I dint go to that Sock Hop thing..had better things to do.....like having Masala Tea and Samosas at Hima's Kitchen....and then lying on the couch with a book..and breezing away to a nice early sleeep..

I am going to a Lunch though, with office ppl..and we are planning to eat outside coz its beautifully sunny today. Also, I think the orchestra might be practing this afternoon - they usually do when they have a performance at night - so we can sit down on the Pritzker Pavillion seats and listen to music at the same time…..

Kalam uthayi hai lafs nahi milta,
Jisko dhoond rahein hain vo shaks nahi milta,
Firte hain vo jamaane ki talaash mein,
Bas hamare liye unhe waqt nahi milta

Waqt guzarta raha, par sanse thami thi,
Muskura rahe the hum, par ankho mein nami thi,
Saath hamare ye jahan tha sara,
Par naa jaane kyun tumhari kami thi..!!!

If ppl will forward me things like this..I will have to post them here.!

He does not even remember when it actually happened but he knows that it did. I think, its the same with all the big things that happen in our life. They just happen. When you actually realize that its there, its too late to remember how and exactly when it struck. The more you think about it more it expands to fill all the space within you. Even outside. It happened with him too. He was just another normal guy living his life. Like you live, like I live, like anyone else who lives, for that matter.

I am trying to write in something. A Story. Lets see how far it goes. Have written about 4 paras..I am not even half sure if I am going to write more..but as I said Lets See!
Its in the notepad :)

So there is another party today.Umm...this one is a work party. The organizing group is pretty hip about it coz they are putting fliers all over.Even in the restrooms. Not to forget the emails. okay I think I can put one here..

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
Remember it’s time for another Monthly Blast, sponsored by the construction group. Remember also we chose to have a good old SOCK HOP!

I received unsolicited additional definitions since I was way too young to remember:

Sales: A sock hop is a variation on the twist and shout. It happens during the pre-closing inspection when the owner plugs a small appliance into an incorrectly wired electrical outlet. The result is a shout, hop, twist and socks whoever happens to be next to them.

Mailroom : we don’t know what it is, but we’re pretty sure it was distributed

From Mike Myshkowec:

Definition:
A sock hop is a term coined in the 1950s in the United States, following the growth in popularity of Rock and Roll, to refer to informal sponsored dances at American high schools, typically held on the grounds of the high school itself in the gymnasium or cafeteria.

At some point during the Hop, the lights would get lower, and all that touching became more, well, um, personal. We called this "necking" or "making out."'

I should explain what these terms meant to us.

Necking and Making Out - Used interchangeably, but technically, necking didn't go below the neck. Really.

Hickey - A slightly bruised area on the neck which guaranteed that everybody would be talking about you by lunch on Monday. Very difficult for kids in South Florida because turtlenecks were pretty obvious.

First Base - From the neck up. (See also necking.)

Second Base - Includes the area the Baywatch Babes are famous for. (Certainly not from the neck up) Only if you really liked the guy and never on the first few dates.Third Base - Nice girls didn't go to third base before marriage. Enough said.

I guess someone is old enough to remember!!!!!!

See you there.

Necking..huh!..

(Words like 'necking'..'lousy'..'old'..'truth'..'lost'..'snotty' always.. always reminds me of Catcher in The Rye)

As good and interesting it may sound..but strangely not many employees turn up for parties. I mean the last one had only 50 something out of 300 something..and they are pretty quiet..I mean the party itself..and the people..everyone is just quiet. They form groups with the bosses and get drinks for them (almost!).

And and and..inspired by the summer and the parties..we are planning to host one to celebrate a dear frens budday :)
So
This Saturday.
Drinks and Food.
Chat with Chatters.

Surprisingly, we have decided to make all the food by ourselves. !

Dearest Blog,

How have you been?. Its been a while that I shared my musings with you.
Did you miss me? Did you feel my absence?
I did!

Even though I was far-off, else where.
I was here.
My eyes saw folks coming and visiting you. There are people from Toronto, Louisville, Princeton, Melbourne, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, Lucknow, Bangalore.
See! They come here in anticipation.

You matter to them, Even if its just a click.
You cross their mind, just a moment quick.

Isnt it so so nice of them? I bet you agree. Let us thank them..Shall we?
Thank You!

Now I am back, and you are back too!.but Hey ..What do I see here! You have changed?..I mean really changed ??..Wait ..what?

You're much deceived: in nothing am I changed But in my garments.
-Shakespeare

Okay okay..chill dude! I get you..So your new garments.. umm..look ok.:).
We will know soon. They will tell.
So,why did you change?..you convert!..
Any thing special?...what does your intellect suggest here?.or just that you believe in changing with time and 'nothing is permanent' kind of things?
Come on!..you have to tell me..I share stuff with you..You gotto tell me..
Wat?..ohh!! Ya.I know.yes..correct!!..How can I miss it.

Happy Birthday Dear Blog..

A Very Very Happy Birthday!

I am glad you made it,
An year..we moved..bit by bit
I remember every word we wrote,
Feelings felt, as we'd row the boat
The joys
the pains.
The happiness
the sorrows..
The smiles
the tears...
The dreams
the nightmares....
The realizations
the contradictions.....
okay! Chuck IT!..
you make me senti!..go get lost..and enjoyyy..and party and ROCK on..as ever..but hey you got to comebak and stick around coz

We have a long way to go
Still a zillion things to explore..
---
Now that I am done with making a fuss big enough to satisfy/expose my non-existent creative and poetic talents let me quicky update things here. What was I upto?

Nothing much actually as you will see..
had fun trips and friends visiting..and work
(yes they make me work..Helllo wait, No you get me wrong. I mean to say "I work!".
within quotes if you notice..watever).

Coming back..I went on a 3-day trip to Wisconsin Dells to celebrate the American Independence Day. We rented this beautiful total wooden cabin by the lake.. watched the sunset..sat around the bench.. ate tons of pizza and coke.. went roller coasting.. go-karting.. water rides.. water ski show..indianfood..the..Ducks tour on land and water..
played cards ..carrom..laughed..fought..misplanned..learnt lessons..
then camp-fired to make up..with antakshari..beer..vodka..tequila..pissed in the lake..
Okay Shut Up.
My suggestion. If you are any where near Chicago you have to see two things.
Myself and Dells.
Again, you get me wrong. I simply meant that you have to come Chicago to see me..
Like these two friends. They came down from NY and Texas. Lets call them Deba and Tarun. We had a gala time. It was like good old days of college!..We enjoyed the catching up much more than touring Chicago..We went to the beach..up to 103rd floor on Sears..ate at Devon..and much more..but the best part were the bulla sessions when we chatted through the days and nights..just to make sure we had everything covered up..even though we do telefone-conferencing every day..(what if thats coz the celfone is free after 9:00 pm)..
Frankly..I dont have words to express the feeling when the best pals meet, and I am sorry for that.
The Summer is at its best. Had a chance to eat out at Taste Of Chicago..and I started roller blading by the beach..and reading. That reminds me that I finally read Catcher in The Rye and boy..its something..I was hooked.

Time to sleep. I have a party to attend tomorrow which will be like the hottest day in several years..100 Deg+ something..watever!
